Rice Exporters' Delegation visits The Netherlands
A 6-member delegation of prominent rice exporters from Pakistan visited the Netherlands on August 6-8, 2009. The delegation, organised by the Rice Exporters Association of Pakistan, included the following leading exporters of Pakistani rice:
i) Mr. Haroon-ur-Rashed M/S M.A. H. Rice Mills Ltd, Lahore (Vice Chairman REAP, Leader of the Delegation)
ii) Mr. Amjad Nazir Butt, M/S Hammas International, Sheikhupura
iii) Mr. Muhammad Ilyas, M/S Zubair Enterprises, Hafizabad
iv) Mr. Tariq Mahmood, M/S Karamanwala International, Okara
v) Mr. Adnan Sarwar Sheikh, M/S Euro Rachna Rice Mills Ltd, Sheikhupura
vi) Mr. Taimur Haider Gill, Secretary General, Rice Exporters Association of Pakistan
The Commercial Wing of the Embassy of Pakistan arranged the matchmaking meetings of the delegates with the leading importers and wholesalers of rice in the Netherlands including Amar Import/Export Forepark, The Hague, S.K. Mathan B.V. The Hague, Far West Import/Export The Hague, S.K. Toko The Hague and Uni Rice Mills Moerdijk.
Pakistan is one of the leading suppliers of rice in the world. In the recent years, there has been phenomenal growth in export of rice from Pakistan. During the period Jul 2008 - June Pakistan's rice exports have exceeded US$2 billion. Pakistani basmati rice is regarded as a premier rice in the European market and Pakistani super kernel basmati rice is in great demand in the European market.
The visit of the rice exporters delegation provided an excellent matchmaking opportunity between the buyers and suppliers.
The Ambassador of Pakistan hosted a dinner reception in honor of the delegation. The leading importers of rice in the Netherlands attended to the dinner.
