Pakistan Ladies welcome eid with chandraat celebrations

Newly formed Pakistan Ladies Association of the Netherlands (PLAIN) organized chandraat celebration at Pakistan Ambassador residence to welcome eid-e-fitr. Nearly ninety ladies, wearing colorful attire, participated in the festivity. The evening commenced with a welcome note by the wife of Pakistan Ambassador, Mrs Najia Aizaz Ahmad, who informed the participants about the organization, PLAIN, which will soon be opened for membership. She said that the objective of the Organization is to project Pakistan’s culture in the Netherlands and also provide healthy entertainment. She added that PLAIN will organize a series of events in the coming months.

The festivities of the Chandraat event, from a swayyan competition to fashion show to mehndi, enthralled all participating ladies, the young and not so young alike. Song and dance over dholki galvanized the evening. The décor of the room, a farshi majlis, brought alive a traditional Pakistani ambience. The festivity was enriched with delicious Pakistani snacks capped by the paan delicacy
The function was organized and conducted by the ever dynamic Afshan Alam-Shamsi and the meticulous Shahzadi Shamsi-Baig. Besides Mrs Najia Aizaz Ahmad, who hosted the event, Mrs Jameel Ahmad, Mrs Shaheen Firdausi, and Mrs Farheen Feyaz Ali Shah provided much needed organizational support for the event.
The evening concluded with each participant carrying along a gift bag containing glossy bangles (churian) sweets (mithai), specially flown in from Pakistan. Najia, Afshan and Shahzadi saw off the guests.
