Ambassador attends annual Day of Intenational Students
Ambassador Aizaz Ahmad Chaudhry attended the annual Day of International Students organized by NUFFIC, the Netherlands Organization for international cooperation in higher education, in The Hague on 7 November 2009.
The Ambassador interacted with Pakistani students at the Pakistan kiosk and visited the stall of Higher Education Commission of Pakistan. The Ambassador was received by the Director General of NUFFIC, who expressed satisfaction on the ongoing cooperation between HEC and NUFFIC. Ms Loes Minkman, NUFFIC’s Senior Program Administrator, briefed the Ambassador on the implementation of HEC scholarship scheme in the Netherlands since 2004.
A sizable number of Pakistani students are currently studying in the Netherlands, which offers over 1400 higher education programs in English language. Presently there are over 200 students in various Universities all over the Netherlands.
The Pakistani students and the Pakistani-Dutch students is a vibrant community here, which is now in the process of organizing itself as a students organization to promote their shared interests and look after the incoming students from Pakistan. A student delegation recently called on the Ambassador at his residence, and agreed to maintain close contact with the Embassy of Pakistan.
